My favorite places in the Philippines where I find home, a spot to chill, enjoy the sound of waves, wake up to a quick hike, learn new things and shoot cinematic scenes.

Everything about this place is just beyond stunning so it’s easy to say that it’s my TOP 1 local destination. Can’t put into words how wonderful the place is — from chasing three majestic waterfalls in a day, discovering a cave pool connected to the ocean, having a super wide white-sand beach to ourselves and an unbelievably breathtaking cliff — Calayan Island has certainly won my heart.

One of the most memorable spontaneous trips I had this year is visiting this UNESCO heritage site. I’ve always been fascinated with Philippine landscapes and being able to capture the glorious Batad rice terraces is such a fulfilment — physically and artistically. It’s been a while since I went on a bit long hike but it’s all worth it particularly the path to Tappiya Falls. The place is coated in a cool breeze where people keep you warm.

Coined as the Playground of the Gods by the locals of the Cordillera, Mt. Pulag is the highest peak in Luzon. It’s my second time summiting the mountain via Ambangeg Trail (4-hour trek) only to see myself drawn in such breathtaking view. If you wish to witness the glorious sea of clouds without too much noise, I suggest scheduling a hike during weekdays.
