One of the oldest cafes in Lisbon, this place was initially a place to get some Brazilian coffee in the 19th century. This is frequented by Portuguese intellectuals such as Fernando Pessoa, Aquilino Ribeiro and Alfredo Pimenta.

This was the original location of the famous cafe Cafe Guerbois. This cafe was frequented by the Bohemes in the 19th century. This was also meeting point of influential figures of the Impressionist period lead by Edward Monet. Unfortunately, the cafe is no longer there and is now the home of small shops.

Opened in 1902, this is one of Prague’s top cafe. Franz Kafka was a frequent visitor and so was Albert Einstein during his stay in Prague. This was one of the first cafes to use electricity and the first salon where ladies can come together!

It is the oldest cafe in Paris that is in continuous operation. It was a melting point for artists and writers during the 18th and 19th century. It’s frequent visitors include Voltaire, Molière, Balzac, Rousseau, Diderot etc. Benjamin Franklin, John Paul Jones Thomas Jefferson also visited the cafe. The cafe has many traditional specialities from savory dishes to sweet desserts!

This cafe in Vienna was visited by a number of historical figures. Trotsky, Freud, Polgar, Zweig and Altenberg and Loos all walked through the doors of Cafe Central. Infamous figures such as Hitler and Stalin even became patrons of the cafe! Its interiors and architecture still remains, evoking the grandeur of the cafe during the past.

This cafe was frequented by many writers. Even legendary Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez was said to have his coffee here. The cafe looks like an American sports bar at the present, but its history of gathering literary figures is still inspiring!

This is now a tapas bar but it used to be a Coffee shop that operated since the 19th century. Frequent visitors were Filipino Revolutionaries Jose Rizal and Garciano Lopez Jaena. This is where they would discuss articles to be featured in La Solidaridad’s first release.

The bar dubbed its golden years “Dolce Vita” during the 60s. Famous figures from the film industry favored this bar to have a good time. Visitors include, legendary film director Federico Fellini, film actors Audrey Hepburn, Ava Gardner, Marlon Brando and Anita Ekberg. Frank Sinatra even played the piano here! 🎶

This pub May be small but still iconic. Frequent visitors include Charles Dickens in the 19th century. Writer Thomas hardy was said to have written one of his well known works here. During the 60s, fantasy writers J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and the rest of the Inklings had their meetings here.

This is the second oldest cafe in the world just after Le Procope in Paris. Famous figures that frequent is cafe include Casanova, who liked going to this cafe because women were allowed to stay 😂. Other famous writers who visited the cafe were Thomas Moore and Charles Dickens

This resto-bar is famed not only for the good food but also for the different figures that frequent it. Pablo Neruda, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Gabriel Mistral, Nat King Cole, Joan Manuel Serrat, Nikolas Guillén and Alejo Carpentier were some of its regulars. Ernest Hemingway was said to be a regular but its founder Angel Martínez debunked it. Thanks @matt for the suggestion!
