Quezon City

A backstory: Calde and I actually spent most of our almost-10 years together in and around Quezon City. Since we have a fair bit of wedding guests who aren’t familiar with our side of QC, here’s a list of our special places and favorite spots in the North (of Metro Manila) that you might want to check out for yourself! Seda Vertis North

4 saves

Quezon City, Philippines • Recommendation •

If you’re looking for a place to stay in QC, Seda Vertis North is the only 5-star hotel in the whole city! We spend a lot of lunches here at Misto with Calde’s side of the family. The buffet has a decent selection, but my favorite will always be the carving station! P.S. Our wedding preps will also be here!

The B Hotel Quezon City

Quezon City, Philippines • Recommendation •

One of our favorite places for spur-of-the-moment staycations! The rooms are value for money. I love the whole modern industrial vibe! Plus, the Champorado on their breakfast buffet is my favorite. 👌🏼

Crazy Katsu

5 saves

Quezon City, Philippines • Recommendation •

Calde and I have been going to Crazy Katsu since it first opened. It’s a very simple restaurant, which primarily caters to students of nearby University of the Philippines in Diliman. That said, the prices are very affordable! Everything’s so good, especially their signature Chicken Katsu. We love the place’s whole aesthetic, too!

Friuli Trattoria

Quezon City, Philippines • Recommendation •

Three words: Affordable. Good. Food. This Italian restaurant is situated along Maginhawa Street, right next to Crazy Katsu. You can’t go wrong with any of the pizza and pasta in their selection. The best part? The prices are pocket-friendly, too, as they also cater to the large population of students in the area.

H Cuisine

Quezon City, Philippines • Recommendation •

One of our favorites in Quezon City, H Cuisine serves (literally) the Most Awesome Angus Beef Belly ever! The space is very unassuming, but judge it you mustn’t. I can’t say much for the rest of the menu because we only go here for one thing. The beef belly with the demiglace sauce and the baby potatoes pictured above are the best!

Romulo Café

Quezon City, Philippines • Recommendation •

The original location of the restaurant built by the family of General Carlos P. Romulo, they serve good Filipino food like Lechon Kangkong, Crispy Pork Binagoongan, Baby Pusit in Garlic, Sotanghon Guisado, and more. Take some time to walk through the halls and study some of the photos displayed on their walls—it’s like a little walk down a part of the Philippines’ history.

Kandle Cafe

Quezon City, Philippines • Recommendation •

We discovered this place because I once spent a whole afternoon here for a Chalk Magazine photo shoot. Calde is always skeptical about “hipster” cafes, but we liked the vibe here nonetheless. The Ms. Eggy and Mr. Eggoy Pasta pictured above is good!

The place where I first fell in love with milk tea, Calde knows to bring me to Tokyo Bubble Tea if I’m craving for comfort food. A quick stop is enough to enjoy their Royal Milk Tea and Yogi’s Poutine Fries!

Cello's Doughnuts & Dips

Quezon City, Philippines • Recommendation •

A favorite in the Katipunan area, Cello’s serves some of the best donuts this side of town. The fact that it’s a small local chain gives us all the more reason to keep coming back here. My personal favorite is the Cheese donut. 🍩

Sweet Ecstasy

1 save

Quezon City, Philippines • Recommendation •

One of our favorite burger joints, Sweet Ecstasy has a mean Cheeseburger recipe that @caldefool and I always get with fresh onions. Our sides, being creatures of habit, are always Sriracha Lime Wings and Ecstasy Fries and/or Onion Rings. We used to go to their branch in Katipunan a lot, but it’s closed now. We’re so glad there’s a new one in the neighborhood! 📷 via Sweet Ecstasy/Instagram

Uncle Moes Shawarma Hub

Quezon City, Philippines • Recommendation •

We’ve spent many a late dinners here, coming from overtime in the office a few years back. I always say Uncle Moe’s serves Filipino versions of Persian favorites, which is just the way I like it! My recommendations: Beef Manakeesh, Keema with Buttered Rice or Pita, Moussaka Melt with Sola Raspberry! OMG NAKAKAGUTOM! 📷 via Uncle Moes Shawarma Hub/Instagram
