The one where I share all of the hotels, hostels, resorts, homestays, Airbnbs, and all other accommodations I’ve stayed in during vacations, staycations, and business trips! Everything based solely on my previous personal experiences (so this is definitely biased.) 💤
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Home. This is home. As early as 2 years old, I already have memories made in this hotel. My parents met here in the ’80s when they worked in housekeeping. My Dad ended up spending 35 years of his life at The Pen before retiring several years ago. We still go here from time to time. Spices is my favorite restaurant here! Plus, the Cake Shop is 💯!
Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Peninsula baby through and through, I stayed here with my family during our first ever trip abroad. I love how it’s at the center of everything, and I can just freely explore the area around. I have a lot of great memories both here and in Manila, so this will always be on top of my lists!
22 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Shui, Hong Kong
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of our favorite places for spur-of-the-moment staycations! The rooms are value for money. I love the whole modern industrial vibe! Plus, the Champorado on their breakfast buffet is my favorite. 👌🏼
14 Sct. Rallos St, Diliman, Quezon City, 1103 Metro Manila, Philippines
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The first five-star hotel in Quezon City, my previous homebase. I love Seda because it’s located in a quiet neighborhood in a relatively busy city. It’s also right across a pretty good mall. This is where @caldefool and I stayed for our wedding preps, so it’s really close to my heart!
Astra Corner Lux Drives, Vertis North, Diliman, Quezon City, 1101 Metro Manila, Philippines
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ When I was still editor-in-chief for a local magazine, I spent a few days shooting fashion and beauty editorials here with my team. If you’re familiar with the popular Philippine surf town Baler, Aurora, this is just a bit farther, but a lot quieter. They take care of *everything* for you: food, accommodations, surf lessons, massages, just let them know whatever you need! The best part about Côte is that their rooms, which are repurposed containers, are so comfy despite the “roughing it” vibe. When I interviewed one of the owners, he said they chose to construct their resort this way to create the least impact on the environment—all the more reason to support them! I never wanted to leave!
Dipaculao, Aurora, Philippines
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’d recommend this resort if only for their amazing suites. I spent a few days here for a press junket years back where I had a whole suite to myself—one of the biggest I’ve stayed in ever. (There was so much space!) The cliffside location gives guests privacy, but also guarantees easy access to the Alona Beach strip where nightlife happens in Panglao, Bohol.
1 Ester A. Lim Drive, Barangay Tawala, Panglao, Bohol, Philippines
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ahhh, Palawan. I’m sure you’ve heard about the incomparable island destination that is Palawan. There are many places to stay in for your visit, but if you’re in El Nido, Lagen Island is *the* best resort I’ve stayed in in the Philippines. (Yes, not just in Palawan. I mean the whole country. Thanks to a Nivea press junket!) An ultra-private resort with access to the most beautiful water and scenery the country has to offer. Of course, one of the most expensive places to stay in; but totally worth it if you have the money to spend.
Lagen Island, El Nido, Philippines
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’ve been here a couple of times for more press junkets (when MAC Cosmetics held one of their masterclasses here and National Book Store hosted Kevin Kwan in Cebu) and it was always a pleasant experience. Since I stayed here mostly for work, I don’t think I’ve ever fully taken in its beauty—especially their famous spa! This is one of those places you shouldn’t miss checking in to when you’re in the Queen City, though. The rooms are awesome, the landscape is amazing. The food is great, too! I’d definitely come back.
