Meet me for Breakfast

Hong Kong

Breakfast has to be damn good to motivate me to eat in the mornings. I’m usually happy with an orange juice and an otherwise empty belly. But if you insist on breakfast, the recommended spots in this list keep me excited! The memories... read comments because sometimes it’s just a matter of convenience =)

Their Salmon Bagel is totally overpriced. At upwards of HK$150. Which idiot would pay that much?! Me. Coz good bagels are hard to find in Hong Kong and there’s just something delightful about the fact that it’s bigger than my face and satisfies all my cravings. Though today, I noticed the Lounge at Four Seasons has those bagels as well! And I haven’t tried it but I ought to see how they compare. I also like their coffee (definitely better than Four Seasons‘ instant one-button tap coffee machine... in fact, why haven’t these hotels upgraded and hired proper baristas for coffee? In this day and age... but I digress). Oolaa’s coffee is real coffee (maybe not always the perfect espresso) but definitely none of that instant Nespresso junk.

For famous hk style scrambled eggs on toast, with some famous hk style milk tea, and equally very local (and not the best for non-locals) macaroni in chicken broth. The guy who started it is the brother of the Australian Dairy Milk Company (you’ll see him around, tall lanky guy). I prefer it here because it’s cleaner, isn’t as crowded, and the seats are actually a bit wider and more comfortable. Lines on weekends tho! The scrambled eggs are pretty good.

The Lounge - Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong

Convenient, happy and yummy. I like big windows with lots of light, especially in the mornings - celebrating the fact that I’m awake!!

Late night snacks, early morning breakfast. Will do in a pinch when craving egg and spam sandwiches or a good hk milk tea. Or noodles. Or rice. Or anything from its extensive menu. Big franchise, decent food. Questionable hygiene. Opens till 4am, and I believe opens again in early morn.
